If you have been to Tonga, chances are you have stood awestruck in front of the Ha'amonga, an ancient stone trilogy megalith. This megalith is said to align with the sunrise at solstices and equinoxes and, some would say, points the way to the land of the gods. The exact method of it’s construction can only be guessed at. Legend has it that the Ha’amonga was built by the demigod Maui who was also responsible for pulling up the islands from the sea. As a gift to the then King of Tonga in honour of his two sons and the bond between them.
