The Mother and Calf - a baby humpback whale swimming as close as it can to its mother as seen so often in nature. The pendant represents the close bond between mother and child. My inspiration behind the piece is actually from growing up in the Tongan islands where humpback whales come to birth and feed their calves in the safety of the tranquil Tongan bays. In the winter months whales can be spotted frolicking close to the shore with their young before continuing on their migratory journey.
